In response to the aforementioned user, the singer of “Dance Comigo” stated, “Sit down, Aunty, the day you decide whether you’re a man or a woman, then we can talk.” Many X users found her statements to be homophobic and called her out on it, leading her to not only delete the tweet but also apologize. Despite the apologies, she stated that she has no regrets and would not retract her statement regarding the South African Music Awards. However, this is not the first time that the awards have elicited criticism from individuals who did not win. It has happened several times before.
